Garett Grist Returns To Pro Mazda Championship for 2015

Indianapolis, IN (December 12, 2014) – Juncos Racing is pleased to announce Garett Grist will join the team for the 2015 Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires. Grist is the fourth and final driver to commit to the 2014 Pro Mazda Championship winning team.
Canadian native Garett Grist, 19, returns to the Pro Mazda Championship after completing an impressive rookie season in 2014, recording three poles and three wins with Andretti Autosport. Grist made his first run with Juncos Racing at the 2014 “Chris Griffis Memorial Mazda Road to Indy Test” at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
“I am very excited to be joining Juncos Racing for the 2015 season,” said Grist. “I see it as a great opportunity for me to develop to a higher level. The team and I share the goal of winning the championship. It will be great to have a second year in the class, so far in cars I’ve been a rookie every season. I’d also like to thank everyone at Andretti Autosport for a great few years. I learned a ton and had a great time doing it.”
Ricardo Juncos, Juncos Racing Team President, is thrilled to add Grist and his accomplishments in the “Mazda Road to Indy” series to the Juncos driver line-up and looks forward to adding to his already strong résumé in the 2015 Pro Mazda season.
“Garett (Grist) proved that he could win races in 2014, not only once but three times,” said Juncos. “On paper he is one of the strongest returning drivers which is why we have secured him for our final seat. Just as we did in 2014 we have two promising rookie drivers and two proven returning veterans. Given the promising testing we have had so far we expect to have an even more dominate 2015 than we did in 2014. Every aspect of our team has been added to and strengthened for 2015. We have expanded our staff, R&D, testing programs, and our Juncos Driver Development Program. Having Garett part of our program is the icing on the cake, we look forward to adding more race victories to his already impressive résumé.
At the young age of six, Grist began his racing career competing in various karting series throughout North America. In 2009, Grist was awarded “Inside Track Magazine Kart Racer of the Year” and went on to win the 2010 Western Canadian Challenge Junior Rotax Championship. The following year in 2011 he competed in the Ontario Formula Ford Challenge, recording three wins and claimed three podiums in the 2011 Quebec Formula Tour. Grist moved up to compete in the 2012 F1600 Championship series driving for Bryan Herta Autosport, earning three podium finishes and taking fourth in the championship. That same year he competed in the Formula Ford Festival after winning the “Team Canada Racing Scholarship” and finished eighth in the grand final in the Walter Hayes Trophy Formula Ford race. Grist made his first run in the “Mazda Road to Indy” ladder system, claiming one win and three podiums to finish third in the 2013 Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda, and was awarded “Rookie of the Year.”
The 2015 Pro Mazda Championship kicks off with the “Cooper Tires Winterfest Championship” on the 2.75 mile, 16-turn road course at NOLA Motorsports Park February 19-20th in Avondale, Louisiana. For more information please visit juncosracing.com and promazdachampionship.com.

Kyle Marcelli Joins Mantella Autosport for 2015

Toronto, ON (December 19th 2014) – Following the recent announcement that Mantella Autosport will switch from Aston Martin to Chevrolet for the 2015 Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge, the team has now announced the signing of American Le Mans Series winner Kyle Marcelli to pilot one of the teams Camaro Z28.R’s alongside Martin Barkey.

This news comes not long after the team’s recent two-day test at Sebring International Raceway, where Marcelli tested the car for the first time.

“I’m pleased to be joining Mantella Autosport for 2015 and to be co-driving alongside fellow countryman Martin Barkey.” Said Kyle Marcelli. “The team has proven that they want to win races and there’s no question that they have the personnel and equipment to accomplish that goal. I worked with Martin in 2014; he takes his racing responsibilities seriously and puts forth a lot of effort both on and off track. I look forward to the up coming season and I expect the competition to be strong, so we will need to bring forward our best effort.”

“Mantella Autosport Inc. is thrilled to welcome Kyle Marcelli to the driver lineup alongside Martin Barkey. His extensive experience and outright pace is an asset to the team and will no doubt help secure great results in the #80 Mantella Autosport, MBRP Camaro Z28R.” Commented Andrew Wojteczko, Team Manager

December 18 2014

Trois-Rivières, Québec – Negotiations for the partnership with WeatherTech Canada were ongoing since the crowning of Louis-Philippe Dumoulin as the 2014 Champion in the NASCAR Canadian Tire series on September 20th, 2014. Last weekend, during the celebrations of the NASCAR Night of Champions in Charlotte, North Carolina, it was with great enthusiasm that Tony Page, president of WeatherTech Canada, has announced an agreement was concluded for the 2015 and 2016 seasons.

“WeatherTech Canada is very proud of our association with Dumoulin Competition and LP Dumoulin. When we started discussing next season, we all felt it would make sense to extend the agreement for two seasons. With the paperwork out of the way, the race team can move forward to improve, as they will be looking to defend their title against a competitive and aggressive field in Canadian NASCAR”, share Tony Page and Joe Magri, coowners of WeatherTech Canada.

“After only three full seasons, we won the championship. WeatherTech Canada has been our major partner for three years, and we now sign this agreement for two additional years with them. It’s an incredible feeling that demonstrates the good performance of our logistics team at Dumoulin Compétition, as well as the fantastic work of our prep team, King Autosport. WeatherTech Canada has seen the entrepreneurial advantages in sponsoring the team and it’s a win-win situation for both parties. It’s up to us to demonstrate once again that it was the right decision,” explains the enthused driver of the #47 Dodge WeatherTech Canada / Bellemare Group.

“What an honor it is for me to unveil my name in the NASCAR Hall of Fame, right beside my idols that have marked the past. It was fantastic to receive these awards, and I’m especially proud for all the people that collaborated with us for the past several years, because as we’ve said multiple times, it’s a team championship, we’ve done this together,” explains the driver of the only all-Quebecer team to ever win a championship in the NASCAR Canadian Tire series.

Upcoming Season

Winning the championship in the NASCAR Canadian Tire series is yet another door opened towards the future, and the possibilities are numerous. “We will not rest on our laurels because we now have a championship in hand and have signed a two-year deal. Our main objective is to defend our title in 2015 and 2016 with even more consistency and performance than during the 2014 season, and we wish to continue with our collaboration with King Autosport, the team directed by Martin Roy and crew chief Mario Gosselin. Discussions to take part in certain events on road circuits in the NASCAR Xfiniti series [ex-Nationwide] are also underway,” mentions a determined Louis-Philippe Dumoulin.
