Team News – @CBRTinc to run 3 cars a WGI Trans Am Race

Live From Watkins Glen, NY May 13, 2016 —

This weekend, Canada’s Best Racing Team will venture to Watkins Glen, New York for the third round of the notable Trans Am Series.

Watkins Glen International has a rich history dating back to 1948 when it hosted the first post-World War II road race in the U.S. Since then, the newly repaved, 11-turn circuit has since been host to nearly every road racing class, including the Trans Am Series.

The Trans Am Series, fondly known as “America’s Road Racing Series,” is comprised of five distinct classes: TA, TA2, TA3, TA4, and TA5.

All of CBRT’s three entries will be contending in the highly competitive TA2 series which attracts drivers from all over North America. TA2 alone includes 27 of the total 66 entries for the weekend, hinting at how exciting the race this weekend will be.

Newcastle’s Kevin Poitras returns to the third round sporting the No. 73 Piloti Ford Mustang. Poitras has been a fierce TA2 contender in past seasons and is looking to come back strong after a challenging weekend at Road Atlanta in April.

Martin Barkey of Huntsville, Ontario, is entered in the No. 25 MBRP/Piloti Ford Mustang. Barkey is a highly knowledgeable and skillful driver, having competed in many North American series including the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge and the Pirelli World Challenge series.

CBRT continues to grow adding a third entry. Driving the No. 22 Herlocher’s Dipping Mustard Ford Mustang is Toronto, Ontario’s Roberto Sabato. Newcomer to the Trans Am Series this will be Sabato’s second appearance having raced in the season opener at Sebring.

“This will be an exciting weekend for CBRT. All three of our drivers and cars are capable of great results at The Glen!” explains CBRT General Manager, Joey McColm.
