Bowmanville (ON), September 4, 2022 – Kevin Lacroix almost claimed another win at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park this Sunday, as NASCAR Pinty’s concluded their last road course event of the season.

The driver of the #74 Lacroix Tuning | NAPA Auto Parts | Valvoline. car finished second after this fiery race. “With the championship race so close, I needed this win,” said Kevin Lacroix after the race.

He was well on his way to climbing on the top step of the podium after setting the fastest time in Saturday morning’s practice session and 3rd in qualifying.

At the start of the WeatherTech 200, Lacroix took the lead after just a few laps. Leading the field, Lacroix built a comfortable lead that melted during the first caution. Taking advantage of the caution flag, half of the field came down pit road, first for fuel, then a second time for the left side tires, and a third time for the right side tires.

The then race leader Andrew Ranger opted for a different strategy, staying on track. Starting 9th, Lacroix worked his way up to 3rd, where he was stuck behind Andrew Ranger and Marc-Antoine Camirand for a while before claiming second place.

The race had two more cautions. The last one spiced up the battle for the win with a few laps to go. Lacroix started in the second position and had to overtake Camirand while watching out for Gary Klutt behind. Camirand took advantage of the fight between Lacroix and Klutt to pull a gap. However, with two laps remaining, Lacroix was able to catch up with his main competitor. The 51-lap race ended with Lacroix in second place.

“Marc-Antoine (Camirand) did not make any mistakes during the race,” explained the driver of the #74 NAPA Auto Parts | Valvoline | Lacroix Tuning car. “It was hard to fight against him, but we had a great car, especially at the end. I wish the race would have lasted longer, but he deserved the win, and we are happy with 2nd place!”

Kevin Lacroix must win at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park this Sunday

Kevin Lacroix must win at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park this Sunday

Saint-Eustache (QC), September 1, 2022 – Kevin Lacroix has no choice but to win the last two events of the season to ensure he has a chance at winning the NASCAR Pinty’s Championship.

This weekend the Canadian NASCAR Series heads to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park for the final road course event of the season. The driver of the #74 Lacroix Tuning | NAPA Auto Parts | Valvoline  car currently sits in 4th place in the driver’s championship, 28 points off the first position. This is one of the most intense championship finishes that has been seen in years.

“I have no choice but to go for the win at Mosport,” said Kevin Lacroix. “It’s a good thing that this is a track that I know by heart and that I always do well on,” said Kevin Lacroix. Indeed, Lacroix Motorsport claimed the win during the first event of the season, in a fiery finish back in May.

Since his first event in 2016, Lacroix has picked up 6 wins at the Bowmanville track, so he will be looking to add one more to his tally. “It always plays rough at Mosport because most of the drivers in the field know the track as well as I do and could all win the race.”

“Some drivers have nothing left to lose and are aiming for the win at all costs; others have to be more careful and strategic about the championship. I’m between those two; I think I’ll only be able to decide during the race if I take risks to go for the win or if I should be conservative.”

The green flag for the WeatherTech 200 will drop at 1:05 p.m. on Sunday, September 4. Fans will be invited to meet the NASCAR Pinty’s drivers in the paddock at the series truck at 11 a.m.

Parker Thompson Racing Release:

Alberta native Parker Thompson had a prominent performance, driving the No. 14 Sean Creech Motorsport Exelixis/Focal One/Alta Equipment Ligier JS P320 in Prototype Challenge as IMSA crossed the border into Canada for the first time since 2019. Sporting a livery featuring American stars and stripes and the Canadian maple leaf, Thompson and co-driver Lance Willsey were keen to make a mark on the holiday weekend festivities at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP). Last month, fueling issues spoiled an impressive performance by the pair in their debut together in Round 2 at Mid-Ohio. A strong result at CTMP would bring redemption and elevate the team’s position in the season’s points standings. Through a ninety-minute race on the historic Ontario road course, Thompson and Willsey accomplished precisely that, piloting their white, red, and blue SCM machine to a second-place finish.

The high-speed, undulating Canadian Tire Motorsport Park circuit presented a daunting challenge for much of the field after nearly a three-year absence from the IMSA schedule. Thompson however, entered the weekend with a stellar record on the track, showing eight career podiums and a total of four wins. On his first laps in Saturday’s Practice 1, he immediately appeared comfortable, setting a benchmark time for the Prototype Challenge field. Less familiar with the 3.957-kilometer, 10-turn road course, teammate Lance Willsey showed quick progress through practice sessions. When Qualifying launched on Sunday morning, Willsey earned an eighth position start.

Thompson, Willsey, and Sean Creech Motorsport shined when racing action began. From P8, Willsey made steady progress early in the race. When he entered the pits at the halfway mark, he had moved his way into fifth place. After the driver change and refueling, the team suffered a setback. Race officials deemed that Thompson had been released from the stop a half-second short of the minimum requirement. He was immediately called back into the pits for a stop-and-go penalty.

The No. 14 had dropped back to seventh place when Thompson re-entered the track. From there, he showed the dominant pace we had seen in May during Round 2 at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course. Navigating through the field, Thompson put together a series of laps that saw him set and reset the fastest racing lap multiple times, advancing his position to fourth. When a full-course-yellow was required late in the race, Thompson capitalized on the subsequent restart, capturing two spots to claim second place. Having already made significant advancements throughout his stint, Thompson had limited capacity to challenge the race lead. He held second through to the checkered flag.

Parker Thompson
“From start to finish, I’m so proud of our effort this weekend in Prototype Challenge. When Lance and I got together earlier this year, we felt we could challenge the front of the field. That didn’t quite pan out in our first event at Mid-Ohio, but I’m delighted that both of us put it together here at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. For me, it’s incredible to do it in Canada, where I haven’t had an opportunity to race in almost three years. I feel like the sum of my experiences showed in my performance here today – from the races earlier in my career here at this track to the frequent race restarts I’ve seen in Carrera Cup recently. Thank you to Sean Creech and Lance Willsey for allowing me this opportunity. With our finish this weekend, we can only do one better! In the future, I’d be honored to do exactly that.
For the present, Thompson has his sights set on another significant Canadian event. He will reunite with JDX Racing when Carrera Cup North America visits the Honda Indy Toronto, July 15 – 17. Marking Carrera Cup’s first and only stop in Canada, the event is particularly significant to Thompson and JDX Racing team principal Jeremy Dale. Each has strong connections to the region. Currently sitting second in that season’s championship, the pair will look to advance their position in the standings by winning on the Streets of Toronto.

Paillé Course//Racing Shows Great Speed but Caught by Bad Luck

Paillé Course//Racing Shows Great Speed but Caught by Bad Luck

Bowmanville, ON, May 23, 2022 – Both Paillé Course//Racing drivers Marc-Antoine Camirand and Andrew Ranger showed great speed, as the NASCAR Pinty’s series was on the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park road course. After they set the pace, running first and second early in the race, Camirand suffered a punctured tire that derailed the race strategy, while Ranger’s car had mechanical failure that forced him to retire.

Marc-Antoine Camirand showed great speed throughout the weekend. Third in practice, he knew that his GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada n°96 Camaro could be even better on the long run. Qualifying was cancelled after heavy rain and thunderstorms hit the track, and the starting grid was set according to practice times. On Sunday’s race, Camirand took the lead right at the first lap and showed that his brand new road course car, built by Camirand Performance, could be as dominant as the oval car he ran the week before.

Unfortunately, his GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada n°96 Camaro was hit by a lapped car and the collision punctured his left rear tire. Camirand lost a lap during this forced pit stop but managed to stay on track and get back on the lead lap after 31 laps in the race.

“We were the fastest on track at that time. I was back on the lead lap, but from that moment, we were hoping for a caution so I could pit for fuel. If a caution would have happened at that time, I’m sure that we had a shot for the win,” explained Camirand.

But the yellow flag never came. His GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada n°96 Camaro ran out of fuel with six laps to go. He came back on track after refueling and scored a 14th place finish.

“Again this week, we were the fastest car on track today, scoring the best lap time of the race. I think that this is going to pay off soon,” stated the driver from Saint-Léonard-d’Aston.

His Paillé Course//Racing teammate Andrew Ranger also experienced hard luck and was forced to retired early in the race. Ninth on the starting grid, he made his way to the front of the field race and ran second behind this teammate for a few laps.

“My GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada n°27 Camaro was very fast. I was running second, and I’m sure it would have been a great car for the end of the race,” told Ranger, whose car is prepared by Wight Motorsports.

Almost halfway in the race, the oil pan shattered on the pavement in turn five and forced him to retire. “It’s a shame that my oil pan broke, because we definitely had a podium car today. I’m primed to return on track for the next race in Quebec”, he concluded.

Team Paillé Course//Racing, Marc-Antoine Camirand and Andrew Ranger will be back on track on June 11th, as the NASCAR Pinty’s series resumes at Autodrome Chaudière, in Vallée-Jonction, QC.
