Podium for Thomas Nepveu at the Toronto Grand Prix

Podium for Thomas Nepveu at the Toronto Grand Prix

Toronto (Ontario, Canada), July 17, 2022 –  Thomas Nepveu has seen great success on the streets of Toronto! The driver of the #10 Cromwell | Pétrole Bélanger | Home Hardware | Karting Excellence car prepared by DEForce Racing rounded off the second and final race of the weekend to finish in second place on Sunday morning.

The weekend started on a rather difficult note, as the young driver from Oka had to learn a new urban track, lined with walls that can be treacherous at times. In fact, the qualifying session did not go as planned when Thomas grazed the wall. The DEForce Racing team was busy repairing the car in a hurry to allow Thomas to complete the final laps of qualifying.

Starting 13th in the first race, held Saturday at noon in front of an enthusiastic Canadian crowd, Nepveu showed patience and determination. He made some good passes to move up the field to finish  in 11th place.

“I was disappointed with the situation on Friday, but I’m proud of our comeback in the first race,” said Thomas. “DEForce Racing gave me a great car that was extremely fast around the street course.”

Sunday’s race went much better, as Thomas started in 6th place. Indeed, the starting positions are very important on this narrow track where it is difficult to overtake.

“It was a great race,” said Thomas. “The strategy was to be patient and wait for the opportunity to overtake. There were a few incidents on track that worked in my favour as the field tightened up.”

The 20 laps were intense, but action-packed as Nepveu made his way to the front. A missed maneuver between the two drivers in front of Thomas on the penultimate lap gave him the perfect opportunity to pass and take 2nd.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better scenario,” Thomas concluded. “I achieved my best result of the season in my home country. To be able to do it in front of my friends and family was one of the best moments of my career.”

Unrewarded Efforts For Thomas Nepveu at Indianapolis Motor Speedway

PRESS RELEASE:

Indianapolis (Indiana, USA), May 15, 2022 – Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, May 14, 2022 – It was a tough weekend for Thomas Nepveu, a young driver competing in the USF2000 series with DEForce Racing. Nepveu had a triple header at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. The event kicked off the Month of May activities surrounding the Indy 500 later this month.

The first race set the tone for the rest of the weekend, as it was a very chaotic race, in the words of Thomas Nepveu. “I had a good start, but when I went into the first corner, a competitor went on the inside line and passed me like a bowling ball and used me to stop,” he explained. “I went into the grass, which dropped me to eighth or ninth. Thanks to the restart, I was able to work my way up through the field to fourth. We had a perfect pace and an excellent car that should have finished in the Top 3, but I had a contact which damaged my front wing. So that hurt the car’s aerodynamics, and I finished in 5th place.”

The driver of the #10 Cromwell | Pétrole Bélanger | Home Hardware | Karting Excellence car was hoping for a better race on Sunday morning, but as dawn broke over Indianapolis, it was adversity that awaited Thomas instead. “I had a good start in race two,” he said. “I fell back to fourth and was trying to pass for third. Jace Denmark and I had a pretty intense battle before the caution. But at the restart, I had a contact in turn one and went into the grass. By the time I managed to get back on track, I had lost too much time to get back into the top 10. The important thing is to have scored a point, but the result is not what we wanted.”

The final race of the weekend went better, as Thomas moved into the Top 4, with a podium finish in his sights. “The start was pretty calm, which was a good change from the other two events! The top 4 had a slight gap on me, but I could defend my position while trying to catch them. Lap after lap, I was getting a little closer to them, but I was two laps short of fighting for 4th place. However, I’m happy with the points I got!

“This is not the result we wanted after the successful qualifying session,” said Coy Arbour, Thomas’ coach. “Indianapolis always has some ‘crazy’ races, so we’re happy to have collected the points from the two Top 5’s. Now we look ahead to the only oval race of the season.”

Thomas Nepeuve and DEForce Racing will return to Indianapolis May 26-27, but this time on the prestigious Lucas Oil Raceway oval, which is the host of the Indianapolis 500.

Satisfying Weekend For Thomas Nepveu In Alabama !

Satisfying Weekend For Thomas Nepveu In Alabama !

Birmingham, (Alabama, United-States), May 1st, 2022 – Thomas Nepveu was back on track in the USF2000 series, part of the Road to Indy program. The driver of the #10 Cromwell | Pétrole Bélanger | Home Hardware | Karting Excellence of DEForce Racing car came out on top, scoring important points for the championship in both races held at Barber Motorsports Park.

Nevertheless, it was a tough weekend for the young DEForce Racing driver who was hoping for better results. “I had set the fastest time in practice at Barber a few weeks ago, so I was confident that I had the speed to fight for a top-five finish,” said Thomas, who qualified 7th in both races and finished 6th on both occasions. “However, this is a track where it is very complex to overtake, so in the race, besides a few maneuvers here and there, I was more of a spectator.”

“It was a tough first race,” the Oka native recalls. We had a good start and gained a position, but it was hard to get close to the driver before me. Every time I managed to catch him, I couldn’t get around him. I maximized the material I had, but I had more ambitions for the weekend’s second race.”

The second race presented many challenges, starting with the rain that first delayed the on-track sessions, then cut them short. However, the first series dried the track, so by the time the USF2000 race started, the tarmac was dry and the sun was shining bright. The day before, DEForce Racing had made some adjustments to Thomas’ car that paid off, according to the driver, “we were faster than Saturday, but again, passing was complicated. I moved up one place from the start, but that’s all I managed to do. I’m pleased with my car and will definitely maximize its potential at the next event.”

The race was very tight, especially due to a caution in the final minutes that brought the field back together. Thomas was in the lead pack but couldn’t catch up on Simon Sikes, but ultimately finished the 17-lap event in 6th place.

“The results are not representative of the weekend’s performance,” said Thomas Nepveu’s motorsport coach, Coy Arbour. “We didn’t execute well in the first qualifying session, and Thomas was well on his way to set claim position when a caution occurred in the second session. Barber Motorsports Park is a difficult track, and aerodynamics is a key element that can be compromised when cars are following each other too closely. Still, we scored valuable points, and we now head to a tripleheader event at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in two weeks.”
