Billy Frazer Continues USF2000 Campaign With Exclusive Autosport In 2022

SASKATOON, SK (February 4, 2021) – Exclusive Autosport is pleased to announce the return of New Zealand’s Billy Frazer to the team for his sophomore season in the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship in the #90 Tatuus USF-22 machine. In the 2021 USF2000 season, the 18-year-old completed every lap in all but one race in his 21 starts and posted two top-five and eight top-ten finishes. As last season was his first year of competition outside of his home country, Billy’s focus in the Tatuus USF-17 was learning the car and the tracks in North America. Armed with this valuable experience, the Kiwi will contend for wins straight out of the gate.

 

“I’m super excited to be back with the Exclusive Autosport team for the 2022 season,” said Frazer. “I will be looking to build on last years’ experience and performances. It’s game on now!”

 

“It is great to have Billy back with us for a second year of USF2000,” enthused Michael Duncalfe, Team Principal. “Billy got his feet wet with North America racing in 2021 and put up some solid performances. He had to learn a new car, new tracks, and the North American lifestyle the last year. He did a great job adapting to his new surroundings and came out stronger at each event. We are looking to build and capitalize on that growth and experience in our 2022 efforts and look forward to kicking things off in St. Petersburg in February.”

 

Exclusive Autosport is continuing with its off-season testing program with Frazer and his previously announced teammates Jacob Douglas, Louis Foster, and Christian Brooks at scheduled events in the southern states, ahead of the official Road to Indy Spring Training event at Homestead-Miami Speedway on February 14-15, 2022. The new season officially kicks off at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg in Florida on February 25-27, running alongside the NTT INDYCAR SERIES.

Jacob Douglas Joins Exclusive Autosport’s USF2000 Stable for 2022

SASKATOON, SK (February 1, 2022) – Exclusive Autosport is happy to announce New Zealand’s Jacob Douglas as their first USF2000 driver for the 2022 season. Like most drivers, the 16-year-old driver got his start in karting at the age of eight, practicing and racing locally before traveling throughout New Zealand and around the world at major events. By the age of 15, Douglas was a four-time New Zealand karting champion and was the first-ever NZ karting driver to be selected by the FIA CIK Karting World Academy Championship. In 2021, Jacob began his open-wheel quest in the New Zealand Formula Ford Championship where he finished sixth in the championship and received the South Island Rookie of the Year. Jacob has been extensively testing with Exclusive Autosport during the off-season and has already built a solid connection with the crew. He’ll drive the team’s #90 JDM Properties Exclusive Autosport Tatuus USF-22.

 

“I feel really pleased about joining Exclusive Autosport in 2022,” said Douglas. “Throughout all of our testing so far, the team has been very welcoming and very professional. I look forward to the upcoming season with them and strongly hope to continue with them in years to come. I appreciate that in 2022 I have a steep learning curve to adapt to racing the USF2000 cars and the Road to Indy program, but I am excited to get going. It has been a big journey already just to get on the grid so I would like to thank all of my partners back in New Zealand that made this happen and I hope to see some of them over at my races this year.”

2021 Indy Pro 2000 Team champions now linked from F1600 through to Indy Lights

SASKATOON, SK (November 3, 2021) – As the only open-wheel racing team in North America with its own internal development ladder system running from F1600 racing into the Road to Indy Presented by Cooper Tires, Exclusive Autosport is thrilled to announce that after a hiatus due to Covid 19, it will expand once again in 2022 by making its debut in the top-level Indy Lights program. Coinciding with the anniversary of its tenth year of competition, the growing operation has acquired two brand new Dallara IL-15 chassis and plans to field two entries next season. The team was initially set to make its debut in the Indy Lights program in 2020 but, due to the season being canceled, the team made the decision to focus solely on their USF2000 and Indy Pro 2000 programs for an extended period. This resulted in the operation’s first Road to Indy Team Championship, winning the prestigious honor in the Indy Pro 2000 Championship this season. Armed with this momentum and taking the opportunity to leverage the growing momentum in the Indy Lights program, Exclusive Autosport is excited to finally complete its platform along the entire RTI ladder. The team has already signed its first Indy Lights driver for 2022, and this announcement will be made in the near future.

“We are really excited to get back into the Indy Lights series,” enthused Michael Duncalfe, Team Principal. “Even though we purchased two used IL15 cars previously, due to Covid, we were only able to use them for private testing. We will enter the 2022 season with two brand-new Dallara IL15 chassis, a very experienced crew, and an incredibly talented driver already signed. We are extremely optimistic about our chances in Indy Lights and will be building from the positive momentum of winning the Indy Pro 2000 Team Championship. We are really looking forward to the 2022 season getting underway.”

Using F1600 racing as its launching pad into the world of open-wheel competition, Exclusive Autosport is the winningest team in the Canadian Formula 1600 competition over the last six years, having scored 16 titles in the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship (Ontario) and the F1600 Canada (formerly Formula Tour in Quebec) programs. The team has also found success in the Formula Race Promotions F1600 Championship, winning the title in 2015. EA returned to American F1600 competition in 2021 scoring four wins and finishing third in the championship. The Canadian-owned operation has grown steadily over the last five years, having expanded from their multi-time championship-winning F1600 team in 2017 when they purchased and ran four Tatuus USF-17 cars to debut in the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship. Expansion continued in 2018 when they added their Indy Pro 2000 Championship program, and since then, the team has continued to be one of the top running programs to compete within the RTI series, racking up a combined 19 wins, 48 podiums, 16 poles, and one team championship.

In 2022, Exclusive Autosport will become the only team with its own driver development ladder that reaches from F1600 through to Indy Lights, providing a direct road for a driver with the quest to one day run in the NTT INDYCAR Series.

Exclusive Autosport Wins The 2021 INDY PRO 2000 Team Championship

LEXINGTON, OH (October 3, 2021) – Exclusive Autosport returned to the 2.258-mile, 13-turn purpose-built road course of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for the Road to Indy Presented by Cooper Tires season finale this past weekend. The team added its USF2000 race winner Christian Brooks as a third driver to the Indy Pro 2000 Championship Presented by Cooper Tires line-up, ensuring their success of scoring the 2021 Team Championship while also giving the talented American his first taste of the series before a planned graduation in 2022. Over the finale weekend, Russian Artem Petrov and American Braden Eves added two more podiums to the team’s 2021 statistics with a second and a third-place finish in Race 1. Brooks was impressive all weekend, scoring a pair of top-five finishes, adding welcomed assistance in securing the 2021 Team Championship. The final tally of success for Exclusive Autosport included with five wins and 18 podiums.

The series is so competitive and we have a lot to hold our head high over including Braden finishing second in the driver championship and Artem finishing 4th in the drivers’ championship. The weekend event got underway on Friday afternoon with the lone practice session of the weekend. Petrov topped the charts to provide the team with the data it needed to pursue a winning weekend. On Saturday morning, the drivers took part in the qualifying session to set the field for Race 1. All three drivers flirted with top-five starting positions, but it was Petrov who stepped to the forefront to grab his first pole of the season. Eves and Brooks lined-up right behind him in third and fifth. Later in the afternoon, the opening race of the doubleheader got started and Petrov immediately jumped to the lead, creating a comfortable gap to second. However, an issue midway through the race slowed his pace and forced him to surrender the lead. Despite the problem, Artem rallied back to take second at the checkered flag. Eves and Brooks fought hard throughout the entire race, coming out of spirited battles to finish where they started in third and fifth, respectively.

Sunday started bright and early with an extremely wet track for Qualifying 2. The three EA drivers topped the charts the entire session, just to get pipped at the very end. Petrov would line up in third, with Brooks in fourth and Eves in fifth. In the final race of the year, Petrov quickly went to the lead but lost grip on the opening lap in turn four, going off course to bring out a full-course caution. Artem was extricated from the gravel trap quickly and restarted without losing a lap, although he was well behind the tail of the field for the restart. Another caution gave him the opportunity to get back in the fight, and he worked forward steadily into third. On the final lap, Artem slipped to fourth, where he would officially finish. Brooks delivered yet another stellar performance to garner a second top-five finish in his Indy Pro 2000 debut weekend. Like Petrov, Eves paced the field early in the race after Artem went off, but as the conditions changed through the race as the rain had stopped, a new shower coming through the facility caught Braden off-guard as the first driver through the now-wet section of the track. Eves went off-track and came back on in second, but another trip to the grass in the treacherous conditions left him with a 10th place result.

Eves had already secured second in the championship prior to taking the green flag, while Petrov’s recovering moved him up a spot in the standings to finish the year in fourth overall. The combined efforts of the drivers delivered Exclusive Autosport with their first Road to Indy Team Championship, the most coveted honors in the paddock.

Exclusive Autosport’s Braden Eves Scores Third Victory of the 2021 Season

Canadian operation maintains Indy Pro 2000 Team Championship lead after the Indy Pro 2000 Oval Challenge of St. Louis

 

MADISON, IL (August 21, 2021) – Exclusive Autosport returned the popular 1.25-mile World Wide Technology Raceway this past weekend for the Cooper Tires Indy Pro 2000 Oval Challenge of St. Louis and, by the end of the weekend, the team had racked up its 14th podium and fourth win of the 2021 season. New Albany, Ohio’s Braden Eves improved one position from his 2020 performance, taking the lead on the opening lap before going flag-to-flag to record his third win of the season. Eves used his stellar performance to close the gap on the championship leader in the process, fueling momentum for the stretch run of the schedule. The Exclusive Autosport crew provided the 22-year-old American with a car set-up capable of winning the 55-lap race, and Eves delivered. Artem Petrov was on the move early in the race when he was taken out from behind entering turn one, and the contact sent his Tatuus PM-18 careening into the track’s SAFER barrier-lined wall.

“I am thrilled for Braden in the #91 Cambridge / Exclusive Autosport Tatuus, collecting the win at WWTR,” said Michael Duncalfe, Team Principal. “As a team, we haven’t won here before, so this was a very special moment for us and very important in the overall championship. With 46 points gained (points and a half plus a bonus point for most laps led), Braden has closed the gap on the championship and is very much in the hunt heading into the final two weekends. Unfortunately, Artem’s weekend didn’t finish on a high note. I want to sincerely thank the AMR INDYCAR Safety Team who were on the scene tending to Artem in a matter of seconds after the incident. The work they do is truly incredible. I am glad Artem is ok. He had such a fast car; it is disappointing his day had to end that way. He, along with the team, will rebound, rebuild and be back in good form for New Jersey this upcoming weekend. Last, but certainly not least, a huge thank you to all the members of the Exclusive Autosport crew for their hard work both in the shop and at the track.”

The second oval event of the 2021 season got underway on Thursday with two unofficial test sessions, which Eves and Petrov used to dial in their race and qualifying set-ups. Friday’s schedule featured a single official practice session ahead of single-car two-lap qualifying. Eves secured a position on the front row for the race with an impressive two-lap average of 139.852 mph, while Petrov lined up directly behind him on the grid in fourth with a speed of 138.058 mph.

In the race, Eves slipped behind polesitter James Roe at the green flag and then made his move to the inside of Turn Three to take a lead he would not relinquish. The first yellow flew on Lap 7 when another competitor’s right front made contact with Petrov’s left rear heading to the turn One-Two apex, and the hard impact with the wall slowed the field for 12 caution laps as the AMR INDYCAR Safety Team tended to the drivers before cleaning up the debris. When the race went back to green, Eves quickly established his gap and then held off advances from point leader Christian Rasmussen all the way to the checkered flag, winning by a comfortable margin of 0.7313 seconds.

In the Indy Pro 2000 Championship Presented by Cooper Tires point standings, Eves left the World Wide Technology Raceway sitting second in the championship with a comfortable gap over third. Petrov is now tied with Hunter McElrea for fourth. The team also continues to lead in the Team Championship, gaining a significant gap to the second-place team. This still provides Exclusive Autosport with the first pit boxes on pit lane for the next event, which is coming up this weekend at New Jersey Motorsports Park.
