Canadian driver Roman De Angelis just missed the pole for tomorrow’s Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear by .118 seconds. He came in just behind Kyle Kirkwood in the #17 Vasser/Sullivan Lexus who won the pole.

Paillé Course//Racing Shows Great Speed but Caught by Bad Luck

 

Bowmanville, ON, May 23, 2022 – Both Paillé Course//Racing drivers Marc-Antoine Camirand and Andrew Ranger showed great speed, as the NASCAR Pinty’s series was on the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park road course. After they set the pace, running first and second early in the race, Camirand suffered a punctured tire that derailed the race strategy, while Ranger’s car had mechanical failure that forced him to retire.

Marc-Antoine Camirand showed great speed throughout the weekend. Third in practice, he knew that his GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada n°96 Camaro could be even better on the long run. Qualifying was cancelled after heavy rain and thunderstorms hit the track, and the starting grid was set according to practice times. On Sunday’s race, Camirand took the lead right at the first lap and showed that his brand new road course car, built by Camirand Performance, could be as dominant as the oval car he ran the week before.

Unfortunately, his GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada n°96 Camaro was hit by a lapped car and the collision punctured his left rear tire. Camirand lost a lap during this forced pit stop but managed to stay on track and get back on the lead lap after 31 laps in the race.

“We were the fastest on track at that time. I was back on the lead lap, but from that moment, we were hoping for a caution so I could pit for fuel. If a caution would have happened at that time, I’m sure that we had a shot for the win,” explained Camirand.

But the yellow flag never came. His GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada n°96 Camaro ran out of fuel with six laps to go. He came back on track after refueling and scored a 14th place finish.

“Again this week, we were the fastest car on track today, scoring the best lap time of the race. I think that this is going to pay off soon,” stated the driver from Saint-Léonard-d’Aston.

His Paillé Course//Racing teammate Andrew Ranger also experienced hard luck and was forced to retired early in the race. Ninth on the starting grid, he made his way to the front of the field race and ran second behind this teammate for a few laps.

“My GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada n°27 Camaro was very fast. I was running second, and I’m sure it would have been a great car for the end of the race,” told Ranger, whose car is prepared by Wight Motorsports.

Almost halfway in the race, the oil pan shattered on the pavement in turn five and forced him to retire. “It’s a shame that my oil pan broke, because we definitely had a podium car today. I’m primed to return on track for the next race in Quebec”, he concluded.

Team Paillé Course//Racing, Marc-Antoine Camirand and Andrew Ranger will be back on track on June 11th, as the NASCAR Pinty’s series resumes at Autodrome Chaudière, in Vallée-Jonction, QC.

Kevin Lacroix wins the Ebay Motors 200 and becomes the new NASCAR Pinty’s Championship leader!

Bowmanville, ON, May 22, 2022 – It was one of the most spectacular weekends for competitors and fans alike at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park as a storm, worthy of a mini-tornado, hit the Bowmanville area. The entire crew of the #74 Lacroix Tuning | ESR Performance Wheels | La Boulonnerie car was safe and sound, but the storm thwarted Saturday’s plans. However, the team leaves Mosport with the win and the lead in the NASCAR Pinty’s Championship standings.

Lacroix ran the practice session without any weather issues but missed part of the session to make adjustments to the car. With very little track time, he counted on the qualifying session to make up for it. However, the weather conditions being what they were, the session was cancelled, and the practice times were used to build the starting grid of the Ebay Motors 200.

Thus, it was in 8th position that he took the green flag on a damp track. Canadian Tire Motorsport Park being Lacroix’s favourite track, he quickly began his climb through the field in a determined but thorough manner. “It was an intense start to the race with Andrew Ranger chasing me, but we fought a respectful battle,” said Kevin Lacroix.

Much of the race went smoothly, with Kevin Lacroix taking a significant lead, which suggested a peaceful win. However, two competitors came to a standstill on the track due to mechanical problems, forcing a caution that lasted several laps.

The race ended with the infamous ‘green-white-checkered.’ This process gave the drivers a chance to try to claim the win for two laps. With Lacroix taking the lead on the outside, Alex Tagliani gave him a hard time in the first few corners, but Lacroix was able to get away and regain a slight lead.

Further back in the field, a three-car accident brought the race to a halt, regrouping the drivers once again for another green-white-checkered attempt.

“It was a very intense end to the race; I would have preferred not to have the stress of having to defend my pole position twice on restarts. My goal was to keep my car intact while the other drivers were fighting. On the last lap, Gary (Klutt) passed me. He was fast, but he was very erratic in the last three corners, he didn’t know where to go, so I took my place. I tried to pass him respectfully, but we touched on the last corner,” admitted the Saint-Eustache native.

Kevin Lacroix celebrated his sixth win at Canadian Tire Motosport Park, which is the perfect kick-off for the team’s new main partner, ESR Performance Wheels. “We were looking for a way to announce our new partnership, and I can’t think of a better way than to get the win today!” In addition to the win, Lacroix is now leading the NASCAR Pinty’s Driver Championship.

The next NASCAR Pinty’s event will be on Quebec soil at Autodrome Chaudière on June 11. The Ebay Motors 200 will be broadcasted on May 28 at 4 pm on TSN and on June 12 at 10 am on RDS2.

A Very Satisfying Start to the NASCAR PINTY’S Season for Kevin Lacroix

Innisfil, ON, May 15, 2022.- The 2022 NASCAR Pinty’s season kicked off at Sunset Speedway this weekend. Kevin Lacroix, driver of the  #74 Lacroix Tuning | La Boulonnerie  car, had a positive outcome to a difficult day as he scored important points towards the championship. Indeed, he claimed the 5th position during the NTN Ultimate Bearing Experience 250 last Saturday night.

Race day didn’t start well, as Lacroix only posted the 12th fastest time in practice. Later on in qualifying, he managed to set the 11th fastest time. However, the race went much better, as Kevin Lacroix finished in 5th position.

“I started 11th on the inside line,” explained Lacroix. “I was able to gain a position when the green flag dropped. I worked my way up through the field as I moved from 11th to 4th place before the 5-minute stop.”

The 250-lap race was cut in half by a 5-minute break on lap 125. “The car was oversteering, so we adjusted it on pit road, but it was now understeering back on track. However, I stayed away from conflicts, didn’t want to take any risks, and preferred to settle for the Top 5 with a better result in mind at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.”

Kevin Lacroix is happy considering the circumstances surrounding Saturday night’s race, “we qualified poorly, so the event started poorly, but 5th place considering the adversity is not bad at all.”

With an edge in points over his competitors, he will begin the first road course event at Mosport next week. The NTN Ultimate Bearing Experience 250 will be broadcast on RDS2 on Saturday, June 4th at 7 pm, and TSN4 on Sunday, May 22nd at 4 pm.
