Matt Garwood Racing Announces 2017 Team Plans

Elmvale, ON – January 22, 2017 – 2015 & 2016 Formula Vee Challenge Cup Series Champion Matt Garwood (MGR) announces plans for the 2017 motorsport season.

Garwood has his sights set on earning another Formula Vee Challenge Cup Series Championship title. Garwood will participate in all five official Challenge Cup Series race weekends in search for his third consecutive championship.

In 2017 Garwood looks to strengthen his knowledge and skills within formula car racing while building his MGR brand and team. Matt Garwood Racing (MGR) is a proven winning race team and with the guidance of Bill Vallis (VMS) along with his team, Garwood is set for an exciting 2017 racing season.

Garwood is also excited for the opportunity to continue his climb up the North American open wheel racing ladder, plans have been put in place to complete in a select SCCA Majors weekends which is yet to be determined. Stay tuned for more information expected to come within the coming months leading up to the 2017 motorsport season.

Over the past six years Garwood and MGR have had many accomplishments to be proud of racking up four Karting Championships, the 2012 Formula 1200 Rookie of the year award recipient, the 2015 & 2016 Formula Vee Challenge Cup Series Championship, BARC Sterling Moss Most Successful Driver of 2015 Award and the most recent recipient of the BARC Bruce Bell Award for the Best Prepared Open Wheel Race Car of 2016.

I am proud of how far our motorsport program has come and plan to continue building our MGR team in the future. 2017 will be another new and exciting challenge but I strive to learn as much as possible while representing our team partners to the best of my abilities.” Said Matt Garwood

Garwood is also proud to be “Laps for Muscular Dystrophy” (Laps4MD) driver where he has pledged to donate $1 for every lap he leads to go to Muscular Dystrophy Canada.
