Kevin Lacroix wins the Ebay Motors 200 and becomes the new NASCAR Pinty’s Championship leader!

Bowmanville, ON, May 22, 2022 – It was one of the most spectacular weekends for competitors and fans alike at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park as a storm, worthy of a mini-tornado, hit the Bowmanville area. The entire crew of the #74 Lacroix Tuning | ESR Performance Wheels | La Boulonnerie car was safe and sound, but the storm thwarted Saturday’s plans. However, the team leaves Mosport with the win and the lead in the NASCAR Pinty’s Championship standings.

Lacroix ran the practice session without any weather issues but missed part of the session to make adjustments to the car. With very little track time, he counted on the qualifying session to make up for it. However, the weather conditions being what they were, the session was cancelled, and the practice times were used to build the starting grid of the Ebay Motors 200.

Thus, it was in 8th position that he took the green flag on a damp track. Canadian Tire Motorsport Park being Lacroix’s favourite track, he quickly began his climb through the field in a determined but thorough manner. “It was an intense start to the race with Andrew Ranger chasing me, but we fought a respectful battle,” said Kevin Lacroix.

Much of the race went smoothly, with Kevin Lacroix taking a significant lead, which suggested a peaceful win. However, two competitors came to a standstill on the track due to mechanical problems, forcing a caution that lasted several laps.

The race ended with the infamous ‘green-white-checkered.’ This process gave the drivers a chance to try to claim the win for two laps. With Lacroix taking the lead on the outside, Alex Tagliani gave him a hard time in the first few corners, but Lacroix was able to get away and regain a slight lead.

Further back in the field, a three-car accident brought the race to a halt, regrouping the drivers once again for another green-white-checkered attempt.

“It was a very intense end to the race; I would have preferred not to have the stress of having to defend my pole position twice on restarts. My goal was to keep my car intact while the other drivers were fighting. On the last lap, Gary (Klutt) passed me. He was fast, but he was very erratic in the last three corners, he didn’t know where to go, so I took my place. I tried to pass him respectfully, but we touched on the last corner,” admitted the Saint-Eustache native.

Kevin Lacroix celebrated his sixth win at Canadian Tire Motosport Park, which is the perfect kick-off for the team’s new main partner, ESR Performance Wheels. “We were looking for a way to announce our new partnership, and I can’t think of a better way than to get the win today!” In addition to the win, Lacroix is now leading the NASCAR Pinty’s Driver Championship.

The next NASCAR Pinty’s event will be on Quebec soil at Autodrome Chaudière on June 11. The Ebay Motors 200 will be broadcasted on May 28 at 4 pm on TSN and on June 12 at 10 am on RDS2.

PRESS RELEASE

Camirand Wins the Clarington 200 at CTMP!

NASCAR Pinty’s series – Clarington 200 and Olymel GPO

Bowmanville, ON, September 5, 2021—Marc-Antoine Camirand sealed a long-awaited victory, on Sunday, as the NASCAR Pinty’s series was at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. The driver of the GM Paillé n°22 Chevrolet Camaro was eager to come back strong for this weekend’s doubleheader on the fast-paced road course, and that is just what he did: he secured his second NASCAR Pinty’s career win on Sunday, and he added another podium finish, on Saturday.

After a difficult beginning of the season including two DNFs in a row, this very strong weekend is just what Camirand had hoped for a long time. Primed by his runner-up finish on Saturday, he entered the Clarington 200 aiming at another podium finish.

Sixth on the starting grid, Camirand felt that his GM Paillé n°22 Chevrolet Camaro was very fast, but he knew he needed to be patient to be in good position at the end of the 51-lap race.

22 Racing team pit stop strategy for fuel and tires turned out to work just perfectly. “My crew chief Randy Steckly called me to the pits for a quick refueling early in the race, during the first caution around lap 8. Then, I went back to the pits around mid-race to take new tires. From that moment, I knew that I was in a good position to fight for the victory. While the other drivers still had to stop, I was just behind them,” Camirand explained.

Camirand climbed to the second spot and kept putting pressure on the leader, his 22 Racing teammate Alex Tagliani. “Alex didn’t stop for tires, so I knew that I would be faster at the end. I just had to be patient, because I didn’t want to push too much to save my mechanic,” he said.

With five laps to go, his GM Paillé n°22 Chevrolet Camaro was still very fast, and Camirand finally took the lead outside turn four and never looked back again, even creating a small gap behind him. He captured his second win in career in the NASCAR Pinty’s series, his first since Saint-Eustache in September 2018.

“It feels so good to finally be back in the winners’ circle! We had been having hard luck for some time now, and I knew we were able to achieve great results here, where we’ve had success in the past. I am so happy and relieved that all our hard work finally pays off! We are looking forward to the next races and we are heading up there with momentum!,” Camirand stated.

On Saturday, Camirand had also achieved a long-awaited podium finish, during the Olymel Grand Prix of Ontario. Sixth after qualifying, he managed to keep a good pace throughout the 30-lap race.

Camirand moved up to second place with a few laps to go and managed to put pressure on the race leader. “My GM Paillé n°22 Chevrolet Camaro was fast at the end, but I missed some time. I think that if I were given one or two laps more, I could have a chance for the win on Saturday, but I’m very happy with this runner-up finish! It is a great way to come back strong after weeks of misfortune,” Camirand concluded.

After this strong weekend on the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park road course, Marc-Antoine Camirand takes his GM Paillé n°22 Chevrolet Camaro to oval tracks, as the NASCAR Pinty’s series resumes next Sunday for a doubleheader at Flamboro Speedway, located in Milgrove, ON.

Saint-Eustache (QC), April 20, 2020 – Although current times are uncertain and most drivers are going round in circles at home, the racing community has mobilized to join online virtual championships, a sometimes-forgotten sport that has now gained unprecedented popularity.

Kevin Lacroix, driver of the #74 Bumper to Bumper/Total/ Lacroix Tuning/ PFC Brakes car in the NASCAR Pinty’s series, was not keen on getting through the confinement without participating in one of these virtual championships. That’s why, starting May 3, he will be one of the professional drivers invited to the Canadian Sim Racing Series (CSRS).

“Right now, we would be on the verge of testing our car for the first race at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP), but that’s not possible,” explained Lacroix. “I have the racing blues, it’s not easy to look ahead, so I’m very grateful to Jason Labrosse, Clinton Geoffrey and Adam Ross for putting together the Canadian Sim Racing Series (CSRS). It’s going to prepare us well when we get back on track! »

Indeed, the initiative was carried out by Quebec promoter Jason Labrosse and NASCAR Pinty’s Pit Reporters; Clinton Geoffrey and Adam Ross.

The CSRS championship will be contested in the extremely popular iRacing game. The first event will be held on May 3 at Auto Club Speedway, a two-mile oval in Fontana, California, which hosts the real-time NASCAR American series. Then the drivers will head to the Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 10, a 1.5-mile oval that also hosts the NASCAR Serie. Then on May 17, the virtual drivers will return here, in Canada, for a race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

On May 24th it will be the turn of the prestigious Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve to host the virtual drivers, and the championship will come to a conclusion at Atlanta Motor Speedway on May 31st.

Kevin will be joined by his competitors Alex Labbé and Gary Klutt, who also race in the NASCAR Pinty’s series. These events will surely be action-packed as the driver lineup is set to be extremely competitive. For those who wish to watch the races in English, you can do so on www.Gforcetv.net/GForceTV while French-speaking Internet users will be able to watch the events on the Stock Car Montreal Facebook page.
